Give your toddlers and preschoolers a safe, daily way to build physical confidence, emotional regulation, and independence right at home.
You’ll likely love Dahan if…
- Your little one (1–3 years) turns everything into a climbing adventure - the sofa, the bed, the coffee table. Dahan gives that climbing impulse a low, safe, appropriate outlet.
- Your 3–5 year old seems hesitant on playground equipment. Gentle practice at home helps them build vestibular confidence without pressure or fear.
- You’re creating a home that supports independence and free movement. Dahan is low-profile and needs minimal supervision.
- You’re looking for calming, regulating activities for your child who gets easily dysregulated. Slow, mindful balance work offers proprioceptive input that helps settle the nervous system
Why Balance Matters for Our Children
In our fast-paced world of screens and academic pressure, children need more than just play. They need more opportunities to feel grounded in their bodies.
The vestibular system (in the inner ear) is foundational for attention, emotional regulation, posture, and even learning readiness. When children get regular, gentle movement like balancing on a balance beam, they develop better self-regulation, focus, and confidence.
Children who have strong vestibular foundations tend to have better postural control when sitting at a table, greater focus during fine motor tasks, and more regulated nervous systems overall.
These are qualities we dream of nurturing in our kids.
What happens when it is under-practised
Sedentary environments are increasingly common for children under five. When the vestibular and proprioceptive systems are not regularly activated through movement, children sometimes become either over-reactive to movement or under-responsive, which can show up as avoidance, clumsiness, or dysregulation.
Dahan Balance Beams offer that consistent, low-pressure opportunity every day. It supports the kind of purposeful movement that helps children feel more secure both physically and emotionally.
About our Dahan Balance Beams
Material
Solid rubberwood with a non-toxic, child-safe finish. Dense and stable, it provides a trustworthy surface that doesn’t wobble or flex. Your child feels safe to explore and challenge themselves.
Height
Low profile (close to the floor). It allows really young children to test their limits, wobble, and self-correct without fear of falling. Perfect for building real confidence gently.
Surface
Smooth with beautifully rounded edges. This gives their feet clear sensory feedback from natural solid wood while keeping every step safe.
Assembly
Simple interlocking design. Ready in under 10 minutes without needing any tools.
Longevity
Grows with your child from 1 to 6+ years. A toddler steps on and off mindfully. An older preschooler balances, walks backwards, sideways, catches and throws ball while balancing, or turns it into part of their imaginative play. The challenge scales with the child's ability. One piece that truly lasts through early childhood.
Versatility
Provides an easy invitation for movement daily to promote an active lifestyle from young, hours of entertainment for an active and imaginative toddler by encouraging creative play and storytelling as your toddler transforms the beam into a tightrope, a bridge, train tracks, or any other adventure they can dream up, and suitable for group activities which promote sharing and waiting for a turn.
Design Choices We Made
We kept it simple
- No grip tape - so little feet can truly practise balance and receive honest sensory input.
- No bright colours, characters, or branding - because we believe in neutral, open-ended spaces that invite imagination and calm.
- No cheap engineered wood - only solid rubberwood that’s safe and durable.
- No tall height because we want courage for the littles, not high pressure.
What You’ll Gain with Dahan Balance Beams
- A home environment that supports free movement, independent play, and imaginative and creative play
- Daily vestibular and proprioceptive input for better regulation even if you’re unable to head to the playground
- A calm, natural addition to your living space
- A tool that helps build body confidence and emotional resilience
Some Frequently Asked Questions:
“Is it suitable for a one-year-old? Is this too early?”
Yes. Even if they’re not walking across it yet, the tactile experience of stepping on and feeling the narrow surface provides valuable input. Because it comes with 3 beams, you can place them all together so that it becomes a platform instead for the one-year-old to step on and off confidently. This set grows with them at their own pace.
“What if they fall?”
At this height, it’s usually just a gentle step off or a small stumble. The design supports self-correction, which is part of how they build real confidence and resilience. Normal supervision applies.
“Will it fit in our apartment?”
Absolutely. Designed with urban living in mind, it is compact when assembled, and you can store it stacked on top of one another when you need to put it away.
“Is it worth the investment?”
We hear you. It is more expensive than plastic toys and some parents fear their children will not even play with it.
Dahan is made of solid wood and built to last through multiple children and years of use. Many parents tell us it becomes one of the most-used pieces in their home, supporting daily movement. Adults can use it too and it’s useful to balance at any age!
Dahan isn’t just another toy.
It’s a simple, everyday tool that gives your child consistent practice in balance, body awareness, and self-regulation right in your living room. Used regularly, it helps build the steady confidence and calm focus that supports everything from playground play to sitting at the table for activities.
Practical benefits for parents:
- A safe outlet for active toddlers who want to climb everything
- Gentle daily vestibular input that helps regulate emotions and improve attention
- More independent play moments at home

Other Practical Questions:
What age range is Dahan designed for?
Dahan is designed for children aged 1 to 6. A one-year-old will explore it with support and curiosity. A two or three-year-old will walk it with concentration. By age four and five, children use it inventively, backwards, sideways, with obstacles, and in pretend play. The beam does not prescribe how it is used, so children find the right challenge level themselves.
Is it safe for unsupervised play?
Normal awareness applies, as with any physical play. The low height and rounded edges mean that if a child steps off or stumbles, it is a minor event rather than a fall risk. We do not recommend leaving toddlers under two completely unattended, not because of the beam specifically, but because that is good practice for toddlers generally. From age three, most children use Dahan independently without issue.
What are the dimensions when assembled?
Assembled, Dahan is approximately 228 cm long, 10 cm wide, and 7.5 cm high. It fits comfortably in a standard bedroom or living room without dominating the space. When not in use, it can be disassembled and stacked to save space.
Do I need tools to assemble it?
No tools are required. The beam uses an interlocking joint system that locks firmly without hardware. Assembly takes under five minutes. The connection is stable enough that it does not shift or creak during use.
What is the weight limit?
Dahan supports up to 50 kg. It is designed for children, but adults have used it for balance and sensory work without issue within that limit.
Can it be used outdoors?
Short-term outdoor use on a dry day is fine. We do not recommend leaving Dahan outside long-term or exposing it to rain. Prolonged moisture causes the rubberwood to swell and the finish to degrade. It is an indoor product.
How do I clean it?
Wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking or using chemical cleaners. The non-toxic finish is durable under normal toddler conditions.
Is Dahan appropriate for a child receiving occupational therapy?
OT practitioners worldwide generally do recommend balance beams as a home tool for vestibular and proprioceptive input. If your child is working with a therapist, we suggest sharing the product specifications with them so they can advise on how to integrate it with the child's current programme.

With two boys under 4 in the house I was looking for a safe way to keep them involved and the Rimba tower does just that. Whether they are helping me chop vegetables, mix batter or even just wash their hands, the learning tower helps them stay part of the action, which is really important for us as a family. It's extremely study and well built, and as they both like to climb in and out, I have no worries about it toppling over. I would definitely recommend it!
